The winter of 2013 had below zero temperatures arrive early and often, which resulted in significant winter damage throughout the Grand Valley AVA. Fortunately, Riesling is reasonably cold-hardy and although yields for Riesling were down, we were able to receive the 1.5 Tons we hoped for. This vintage, like all before it, have required an extensive hand-sort (the reason we only harvest 1.5 Ton, it's all we can usually hand-sort in a day!). The 2014 vintage is once again Dry by both balance and residual sugar (in fact, it has the least residual sugar to date: 0.1g/L, or 0.01%). It's an Alsatian inspired Riesling that is crisp, dry, exhibits minerality, apricot, and pear. Pairs wonderfully with gorgonzola, ginger, and black truffle.
