Roasted Garlic Hummus with Aleppo-Infused Olive Oil and Parsley | 2008 Syrah (April 2012)
For a recent event, the 2012 Boulder Wine Trail Passport, we wanted to present truly magical pairings. We would be pouring two weekends at Savory Spice Shop in Boulder and asked Dan, the store owner, for recommendations on caterers who are also experts with his vast selection of spices. Dan recommended Kathryn and we couldn't have been more excited with the pairing results.
Our 2008 Syrah pairs beautifully with zesty red sauces. Pizza sauce simmered with a bit of crushed red pepper has become one of our staple Syrah pairings. Once we became acquainted with Aleppo pepper we never looked at crushed red pepper the same. Aleppo has a bit of heat and mounds of flavor.
